STATE CONVENTION
State convention is a two-day conference hosted each year in downtown Indianapolis. Delegates can attend leadership workshops presented by fellow students, hear national caliber inspirational and motivational speakers, network with students and adults in their district and the state, and receive information and tools that will strengthen them as leaders, as well as their councils.
Each school can bring up to 14 students per school and two adviser delegates. In total, a school may not register more than 15 delegates total. Additional students/advisers can be put on the waiting list. If additional spaces become available, they will be released based on the date of the original registration. Some of these student delegates may be workshop presenters, helping deliver the leadership curriculum of this event.

CONVENTION INFORMATION
2024 Keynote: Nick "Sunshine" Tokman
KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Nick has been seen on the show for four seasons entertaining more than one million viewers each week. He is recognized for his constant, upbeat attitude, his unwavering focus on achieving his goals, and his determination in the face of adversity.
Nick’s grandfather introduced him to Deadliest Catch for the first time at a point in his life where he felt unfulfilled. After seeing the show, Nick decided he HAD to go crab fishing! Although his family did not want him to pursue a career in one of the most dangerous professions, he realized this was HIS life; he had to live it for himself. Four years later after embarking on his journey, after persevering through a series of setbacks and failures, including hospitalization, running out of money, and battling homelessness, Nick landed on the very show that inspired him to venture to Alaska.
As a cast member of the Emmy-Winning show, he battled some of the harshest working conditions known to man, including 30-35 foot rogue waves, freezing temperatures, extreme physical labor and 20-hour work days. Nick has proven himself physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of overcoming arduous obstacles.
Nick has made presentations live and virtually; from classroom settings to arenas filled with 17,000 people. His audiences nationwide range from students in elementary school, junior high, senior high, college, and university to corporate professionals.
